Bulkley Valley Christian School is an independent, Christian school that has been in operation for almost 50 years in the town of Smithers. During the 2009-2010 school year, there are approximately 240 students in attendance at BVCS; these students come not only from a variety of cultural backgrounds, but they represent a wide variety of church denominations, as well.

Elementary and Secondary Campus.

BVCS operates two campuses at the present time. The elementary one is located on 4035 Walnut Drive. This campus has been in existence since the birth of the school society in 1961. Presently, it includes a pre-school, a kindergarten class, and grade 1 - 7 classrooms. The secondary campus is located on 3575 - 14th Avenue, and it has been in existence since the 1980's. This facility has educational programs that serve grade 8 - 12 students.

Community Contribution

BVCS not only tries to serve the families that send their children to the school, but it also attempts to serve and be actively involved in its broader community. Many of its students perform service hours at various locations within the area; its sports teams compete against other schools in the Northwest; its theatre arts department puts on a drama bi-annually at the Della Herman Theatre; band and choir concerts are held annually for the community; and its students participate in a litterathon each year that involves cleanup of Highway 16 all the way from Quick to Moricetown.
